Hardee
County has a wide variety of recreational activities to
accommodate everyone. The beautiful parks can be enjoyed
year round. Our sunny weather and "country style" offer a
perfect setting for fishing, camping, swimming, hunting and
fossil searching, with most of it being done along the Peace
River. If you enjoy the outdoors and sports, you will love
Hardee County.

Hardee County has three public golf courses in which the
public can enjoy, that offer year round play.
Football
The heart of Hardee is the HHS Wildcats football team, led
by Coach Darren Bryan. It's obvious by their success that
from Little League up, Wildcats are trained to win. We have
several players continue on to play pro football.
Softball and Baseball
We encourage those of all ages to participate in sports.
There are local softball leagues for men and women at the
local sports complex. This includes competitive and church
leagues. And for the youth we offer a large competitive
Little League.
Basketball
For those who enjoy hoops, we have leagues for the youth and
many local spots for a little pick up game. We have the YMCA
which has basketball also.
Tennis
For many people tennis is a year round favorite in Hardee
County. The public courts are lighted for those who like to
serve it up.
Racquetball
We have public courts at our local sports complex.
Skating
Roller skating and in-line skating is also a favorite of
many. Hardee County has a roller rink for those who like
skating indoors and many shady sidewalks for those who enjoy
the outdoors. At the local skateboard park there are ramps,
half pipes, and quarter pipes to accommodate the youth.
Canoeing
Hardee County is one of the premiere spots to do a little
paddling along the scenic Peace River. The Peace River winds
through the county and is a site to see. You will want to
enjoy it again and again. According to National Geographic
Magazine, the Peace River is one of America's last "wild and
scenic rivers."
Fishing
The local parks and the Peace River offer a wide variety of
fresh water fish. Because we are not far from the Gulf of
Mexico, many enjoy fishing on the flats and in the Gulf for
a wide selection a salt water fish. Hardee County has five
recreational lakes for fresh water fishing.
Skeet
There are many annual skeet shoots year round for the
shooting enthusiast. This includes the annual Turkey Shoot.
Rodeo
Reality Ranch is Christian based and hosts many rodeos.
There are also periodically Mexican Rodeo's at the Cattleman
Arena.
Hunting
For those who enjoy hunting, there are plenty of deer,
turkey and other bird hunting to do. Please refer to the
Florida Game Commission for public hunting grounds.
Paintball
Paintball is a new sport for Hardee County.
Swimming
The public pool at the local sports complex in Wauchula is a
great place to cool down or take swimming lessons.
Organized Youth
Sports
Hardee County encourages the youth to participate in many
organized leagues offering development in baseball,
softball, football, soccer, swimming, basketball, golf, and
more.
